Overview
Meridian Hospital was running patient records on ageing servers with backups nobody had ever tested. A hardware failure would have been a clinical emergency, not just an IT one.
The Challenge
The hospital operates continuously — there was no maintenance window. Patient data required encryption at rest and a full audit trail, and staff needed to keep working throughout.
Our Solution
We deployed redundant servers alongside the existing ones, migrated services one at a time during the quietest overnight hours, and only decommissioned old hardware once each service had run stably for a week. Encrypted off-site backups were implemented with monthly restore drills.
The Results
The hospital now runs on redundant infrastructure with verified backups and a documented recovery procedure. No clinical service was interrupted at any point during the migration.
Impact
Clinical Downtime
Workstations Replaced
Backup Recovery Time
Data Migrated
When our patient records server failed on a Sunday morning, an engineer was on site within the hour and we were running again before the afternoon clinic. That response is why we have stayed with them for five years.
