Overview
Nairobi Business College operated on a network assembled piecemeal over a decade. With 2,000 students and staff now expecting reliable connectivity across six buildings, the existing infrastructure had reached its limit.
The Challenge
Coverage was patchy, the core switching could not handle peak load, and the entire upgrade had to happen without disrupting teaching. Cabling in two of the older buildings was undocumented.
Our Solution
We conducted a full site survey, designed a new fibre backbone linking all six buildings, and deployed 64 Wi-Fi 6 access points positioned from the survey data rather than guesswork. Work was phased across the August holiday break, with each building brought online and tested before moving to the next.
The Results
Campus-wide coverage now supports over 1,800 simultaneous devices. Helpdesk tickets relating to connectivity fell by 92% in the first term after completion.
Impact
Access Points Deployed
Reduction in Support Tickets
Concurrent Devices Supported
Delivered Ahead of Schedule
Zion Systems rebuilt our entire campus network over one holiday break. Four hundred students now connect without the constant complaints we used to get. Their team explained every decision in language our board could follow.
